Note: not a real NRA add, but a funny pic anyway.

Actually, the Quakers, Amish, and Mennonite are pacifists and refuse to go to war. But you're right in general. The majority of the U.S. armed forces are "Christians."

I once asked a Christian why he wouldn't become Jewish since there were far fewer assumptions and other than that it was the same god and all. His answer was that Jadaism wasn't internally consistent because they rejected Jesus. I never did get a good answer why the rejection of Jesus by the Jews wasn't internally consistent.

You assume that the bible represents some accurate statement. We know that the fundamentalists believe in the literal truth of the bible but it was an oral history for many many years before it was ever written down. And then there were several versions that followed in quick succession.

My cousin (the only fundy I know) actually thinks of himself as part Jewish.

Judaism rejects a divine Jesus (I think even Jesus did that) but not much else - even from the NT.

Considering where this thread will inevitably lead and possibly already is, let me just say that that interpretation seems incredibly weak (j/k). But the point isn't really that they added to the Bible, it's that their religion is built on something other than the Bible. I just used that passage to link it in.

Technically, the NT didn't exist at the time Revelation was written. I don't have dates for the various books. Were any written after it?

Then I stand by what I said earlier. They lose. How the hell can they be true to the Bible if they don't believe it to be infallibly canonized? If only you hadn't been self-banned, but I need closure.

I would too, but that's not the topic.

Read the thread

seriously.

Regarding your specific points, they are trying only to confirm. They do not look for any passages in the Bible which might deny their hate everything and everybody crusade.
