Not a bit.

That is why I came here.

And it's funny, here at an atheist board, I can be me, be silly, serious, religious, whatever....

And I do not feel the horrible spiritual effects I felt there.

Uhm.

Okay, so they've never heard of EMHC, and never took the twenty seconds or so it takes to look it up on the internet.

...

What the FUCK?

NOOOO!! YOUR COMPASSION DEFILES OUR MAGIC COOKIES!! CEASE YOUR MINISTERING TO THE SICK, YOU MIGHT GET GERMS ON GOD!!

... No, even with a really over-the-top insane voice, I still can't make that sound plausible.

Cool!

Can anyone point me at these threads? I really have to see the arguments here. How much of it was over concerns you might not be hung well enough to properly act in persona Christi?

He hates me.

In some ways that is worse than hate. It is contempt.

That particular one got deleted I think. It got pretty nasty.

The whole point of it was that I was & am not a priest.

That is the whole concern.

But God is not in a box inside the Catholic Church.

While His presence is in the Eucharist, He is also working everywhere.

One is at the right hand of the Father interceding for us.

Annabel might remember it.

This is impossible with the amount of people at every Mass & all the others that are sick, etc.

Basically, I was defiling the Eucharist by doing so. Doing a horrible deed. Blah, blah.

I now have a weekly ministry that I do from it with those that are dejected, mentally ill, sick or dying.

But that is besides the point.

Being an EMHC is just a hellish thing to do. :Cheeky:
this stuff makes my blood boil.

Well this might make you feel better. My priest said last week I had a fantastic ministry & is very pleased.

I've developed relationships with these people that has seemed to help them in a small way.

Catholic or not.

It's the same people that have coniptions over Altar Girls, holding hands during the Our Father, and what have you. It's perfectly licit according to the Church, but because it is not 'preferred' some people want to run with that and make it out to be anathema.

I mean, sure, ideally it would be great to have enough priests to see to the spiritual needs of all the faithful under their care. The hard fact is we don't and the church has made allowances for that because she recognizes that the needs of faithful OUTWEIGH the discipline of normal practice.
