If babies automatically go to heaven (as most? Christians believe), doesn't it make sense for Christian parents to kill their children as soon as they're born? Why risk the evil world getting a hold of your child's mind and warping it away from Christ, when you can assure her entry into heaven by killing her now?
The parent then asks for forgiveness, and as a True Christian has to be allowed into heaven when he or she dies. And if God doesn't forgive you... Wouldn't most parents die for their child? So then, shouldn't Christian parents risk eternal death so their child is assured eternal life? Isn't it selfish to risk your offspring's soul just so you can get into heaven? |

I think it depends on the denomination & how they feel about that original sin business. A baby that hasn't been baptised used to go to Limbo, though theologically there's no such thing. That baby was damned to go to Hell because of original sin but the Catholic church made up Limbo to console grieving parents. Southern Baptists & various evangelical types in the U.S. believe in original sin, but things you do between birth & testifying to the almighty in front of your congregation carry more weight. Hence their stance on abortion, and their belief that a fetus is innocent despite original sin.
imho to be consistent, they should approve of abortion since it prevents sin. |

I guess my question should be confined only to the situation of Christians who believe babies and fetuses get a free ticket to heaven.

Since about 75% of all people go to hell, it doesn't make sense for us to be having kids in the first place.
How many worshippers does God need anyway? He could end "the plan" at any time, but he keeps letting it continue, despite losing 3 of every 4 to Satan and hell. Since he lets it continue, he must be ok with the numbers. |
