Eusebius' "thrice-blessed" references in Vita Constantini
Twice in his "Life of the Emperor Constantine" Eusebius refers
to Constantine with the term "thrice blessed". This term has at least some recognition in having historical precedence in its application to the figure of Hermes Trismegestus. How universal is this recognition, then, and now? Is this recognition justification to claim that Eusebius is making a comparison between Constantine and Hermes? (He openly compares Constantine and Moses - CH.XII) |
