According to some theologians, most notably Thomas Aquinas, that's part of the entertainment.

If a soul in heaven looks down at a soul in hell and gets entertainment out of it, then the soul in heaven doesn't need to be there in the first place!

I've seen some of the more foaming-at-the-mouth bible-thumpers over at CF take extra-special glee in that very prospect. They just can't wait to sit up there on a fluffy cloud with Jesus, and mock the sinners and unbelievers for their hellfire folly. It's really quite sick. And says a great deal about the kind of people they are.

My only reply to them is that I would rather be in hell with the Dalai Lama and Mahatma Ghandi, than in heaven with Fred Phelps (or any of those other cruel and sanctimonious fuckwits.)

I'm quite sure the very idea of them fondling such visions in their twisted little brains as something to look forward to while in heaven is enough to make baby Jesus cry.

Here is what "Saint" Thomas Aquinas said. It's from the Summa Theologica.

Quote:
That the saints may enjoy their beatitude and the grace of God more abundantly they are permitted to see the punishment of the damned in hell.

Now imagine yourself looking down on somebody you loved in life, suffering in hell. For eternity. Check back in a thousand years, yep, they're still suffering. A few million years later, still suffering. And all you can do is watch. Now here's the fun part: since there is supposedly no unhappiness, grief, or sorrow up there you can expect to be quite happy with this pasttime, assuming you're one of the lucky few. And if you're not, well, take some comfort in the fact that somebody, somewhere--maybe your mother or father, maybe your husband or wife or children or grandchildren, or maybe that nice Christian couple next door--will be happy to see you suffering.

Of course, other (perhaps most) Christians don't believe you actually get to watch the suffering. They think they'll be happy just knowing that their loved ones didn't get into heaven, and thus are experiencing the alternative. But they won't care, because it's heaven and everybody is happy. (Out of sight, out of mind?)

Didnt God get off by slaghtering people and having his people slaughter the masses in the OT?

God is sadistic so why cant we be sadistic too?

When we get to heaven rolling around all day watching the tormented souls forever.

When I get to heaven and I am God due to my overthrow I will get off watching jesus soul tormented forever.

If a man's wife dies and he gets married again, who's going to be his wife in Heaven?
