By my very unscientific measure, Bush ads outnumber Kerry ads by at least 5:1. So far I've seen:

Swifties (at least 3 variations)
The "Ownership" Bush Ad
The "Windsurfing" Ad
Some other miscellaneous anti-Kerry ads.

As someone anti-Bush, that suits me just fine. California's not about to swing to Bush, so he can blow all the money he wants. That's money that won't go to OH, PA or FL.

If that is indeed the case, you better believe I am all-too-cool with him (Bush) spending his $ here, too. In fact I might encourage it (notwithstanding the desire to poke out my eardrums with chopsticks). It would be worth it.

Seems kinda strange, but it looks like the W campaign is buying some nationwide advertising on some of the cable networks. I'd think it would be more effective, both in cost and in cultivating votes in critical states, to spend that ad money in those critical states. Bush ads in California don't make much sense. I'm seeing them here in Texas, too, as if Kerry had a snowballs chance here. Why run ads in CA (hopeless) and TX (in the bag) when FL, OH, etc are so close?

.......maybe the W campaign machine knows something that the polls aren't picking up. Maybe they sense that they're a lot weaker than the polls indicate; in that case, it'd be quite neccessary to advertise nationwide.

I've also heard that they may be trying to pump up their take of the popular vote as much as possible, regardless of electoral votes, in order to make a 2000-style theft seem more legitimate.

Who knows. After the 2000 debacle, some of the balloting shennanigans that have recently occured, and the ridiculuous shortcomings and security holes of the proposed computer based balloting systems, I've got a pretty horrible feeling about this election. I don't generally go in for conspiracy theories, but I really wouldn't put it past these people.

I just realized that I have no idea what ads are airing (and not for a lack of time wasted watching TV).

Yeah Tivo!

I find it really funny that Bush is placing so many ads in CA, even if they are national ads. The only Californians I have met that will vote for Bush are the deranged fundy types. I don't think any Californian in their right mind would vote for this guy, after all of the neglect he has shown twards California. I don't particularly like this president as an american, but I absolutely detest him as a Californian. He can't expect to take a dump in my state for the last 4 years and then get my vote. The interesting thing about this is several of my very rich republican friends from Orange County feel the same way.
