This poll is only for those who consider themselves pro-choice. What do you think is a valid reason for a third trimester abortion:

Needs multi-choice. I'd pick all but the "never" option. Note, I don't know which reason would be good enough for *me* (probably 2-4) but I'm not going to suggest anyone else's reason isn't enough.

Serious risk to the physical health of the mother, or major fetal defects.
But the poll should be multi-choice. |

Third trimester means 7, 8 or 9 months old. I'd be okay with abortion for major fetal defects. But for all the rest a provoked birth doesn't necessarily mean killing the baby (yes, it's a baby now, it can sustain itself on the outside with medical attention, and easily so).

Medical- physical health only.
Moderately PC and have a wife currently entering the third trimester. There's no excuse for third trimester abortions apart from medically necessary, because people don't magically show up seven months pregnant one day. Defects aren't a valid excuse as the vast majority of any sort of major defect can be detected far earlier (for instance, ultrasound at twelve weeks can lead strong support for Downs). Matt |

Poses a serious threat to the physical well being of the mother.

Can't answer this because I'm not a doctor or the patient.
