Here's a clip from "The Last Days of Jesus":

"The Passion of Christ" is filmed in Latin, right?

Since "Jesus is God" has 12 characters in it which would convert to 24 digits if we use ASCII (we could use a straight letter counting scheme which would make finding it more likely) and that means that there is a 1 in 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 chance of encountering "Jesus is God" in Pi. Whereas "SLD is God" is a mere 1 in 100,000,000,000,000,000,000. This is assuming ASCII and all uppercase. I am too lazy to calculate the probabilities using a simple letter numbering scheme but it would, as stated, be much more likely.

Actually it's all of you who should now bow down to me. I have a greater probability of being God than Jesus Fucking Christ himself. The next time you hear some idiot talk about how God can be proven mathematically just remember: SLD is God!

Well, I get a chance to "appeal to authority," so there!

Watching television whilst posting, I see Crossan spake thusly on MSNBC--the "We are JUST as Conservative as Fox!" channel--regarding on whether or not Mel's movie is accurate:

Ha!

'I am God!' is far more probable than 'SLD is God!'.

I agree with some of this, in particular the unconditional love part. And as the first act of unconditional love all Christians should cease and desist all proselytizing.

Just curious. What, if any, effect will Mel Gibson's new film "The Passion of the Christ" have on evangelical prosletyzing? If it is as emotionally powerful and as "believable" as people who've seen it seem to think it is, will it convince even more people that the story is indeed true and encourage them "to give their lives to Christ" as evangelical leaders certainly hope it will?
I'd have thought most of the evangelical fundies (like those that subscribe to RR) will dismiss it as the heretical ravings of just another "pagan" Catholic, whom they appear to loathe even more than people like us!

The large-size outdoor marquee, which sits on the property of the Lovingway United Pentecostal Church at Colorado and Mississippi, says, "Jews Killed The Lord Jesus" and the word "Settled!"

"It's settled," said Maurice Gorden, Loveway pastor. "The word of God is the final word."

Pastor Refuses To Remove Or Change Saying On Outdoor Marquee

I have to wonder, for how many more centuries will human beings discriminate against and harm other human beings over what amounts to ancient fiction?...the ugliest and most damaging hoax that could ever inflict humankind like a cancer.

How tragically silly it all is. The world is a stupid place.

Talking

how do you find a circle in a string of numbers? Wouldn't you need some sort of wholly arbitrary interpretation scheme to create an image from numbers? Making it pretty easy to find, to enough digits and with enough options for interpretation schemes, and loads of computing time devoted to the search.

How was it done in the book?
