There is some definite merit in nihilist concepts. I see from your profile a belief in existentialism. My reading of existentialism is that it is founded on a nihilistic interpretation of the world, the main distinction is that existentialism does not state this explicitly, allowing you to discover it in your own time. |

What does God do? Everything! I've been flipping through my Bible for a good 10 minutes now and I can't find the exact passage but I'm sure you have heard it before.
"Not a sparrow falls from the sky without the Lord willing it." |

Or at least he kills sparrows, apparently.
I knew a kid who did that when I was 10. He was a heartless bastard. I think he grew up to be a rapist. And you say god does the same thing? Not surprising, I guess. Think he started by pulling the wings off of flies too? |

I believe that is 'without God knowing it'. A rather substantial difference.

Matt 10:29 NIV
29Are not two sparrows sold for a penny[a]? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father. Damn. Yes, knowing would be a big difference. If that were what it said. |

Maybe His purpose mirrors that of a scientist, a mastermind deep in the throes of his experiment, observing us all. Our Earth is the maze he provided, our death the proverbial cheese, and our pathways all noted by the brain who conceived of it all.

Intrigued by the OP.
I like challenges. What is exactly the challenge? What does God do in everyday life for the everyday human? I don't know exactly, but He has helped me some. ------I think that I am a better person because of my belief. I think I am more kind and considerate of others. Not to say that atheists can't be kind and considerate. But I have the propensity to not always be so------and Jesus helps make me better than I would otherwise have been. If an atheist can say that he does not need any faith system to be an awfully good person------more power to him. Me and many others do find Jesus to be very helpful. So why knock it? |

I don't think many theists have an answer they are willing to commit to print. Kang Louie's was nicely predicated with "Maybe". Still rather vague, though. Does Kang Louie have a more confident answer than "Maybe He is trying to learn something by running a test?" There are lot's of Christian theists willing to post on less important topics than this one. Tom |
