"Anyone who works on the sabbath must be put to death." (Exodus)
Imagine how many televangelists we could get rid of if we actually carried out this commandment. |

The huge number of things, most of them socially irrelevant, for which, according to Lv and Dt, one has to be stoned to death.

On that note, my favorite WTF moment is the behavior of everyone involved, including Jeremiah, in Jeremiah 36: Jeremiah: Doom, doom, doom, doom! Jehoiakim: I don't like this guy. Let's burn his writings. Jeremiah: What! I'll just rewrite the scroll, but this time with even more doom! |

here's one for the feminists
I Cor 14:34-35
34 Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law. 35 And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church. |

Jesus Christ's cursing that fig tree for not having any figs for him when he was hungry, even though it was out of season for figs. We are told that that fig tree died as a result.
I found that extremely shocking when I first read that -- that seemed EXTREMELY immature. I also found Romans 13 bizarre. Paul claimed that government leaders are God's lieutenants and should be obeyed without question. And Paul was talking about a government whose official religion he considered pagan idolatry. And I was startled by the part that said that God had shown that the wisdom of the world is foolishness. And I thought that the Book of Revelation seemed like some big drug trip. |

One of mine is in Revelations where God will supposedly release Satan to wreak more havoc AFTER a 1000-year reign of peace. Why the fuck would he do that???
Another one is in 2 Peter where it claims that the fallen angels are bound in a pit until judgment day. This of course directly contradicts numerous bible passages and the blatherings of fundies about Satan and his band of demons running around in the world. |
