Default eac time guys.

I met a couple recently, great artists, nice people, completely over the top religiously.

I havent seen their brand of xianity before, so I need a little help deconstructing it.

Basicly they start with an odd premise that the tree is a family tree/line of jesus thing. And that is why an angel guarded it. Also, there are these gibers, people who are descended from angel and man and are evil. So its ok to kill them, which explains away the amelikites, also that god killed nobody in the flood and that noah didnt round up animals, he rounded up the flesh which somehow means real people.

In short, the whole belief system is out of left feild and they also seem to think they are the true xians, not unusual of course, but this belief comes from the original aramaec and hebrew, so any help guys?

They sound kind of like (JWs)^n to me. True Christians(TM) tell of the Witnesses having a few interesting interpretations for parts of the Bible. I agree, though, that these people are a little further along than that.

yeah, they are way out there, I was hoping that someone around here had seen their reference book.

because there is one out there.

btw, I thought I would add, goliath was a giber which explain why he is so big. and that all humans alive past, present and future were with god when the angels rebelled and that is why we are here now.

we asked for it because we said we had a better way.

this of course is a rather new age reincarnation scheme idea, I had never seen it teamed up with xianity before.

Sounds like someone was borrowing from paganism when they came up with that "gibers" idea. However, much of Christianity in general originated from pagan influence. This just seems to be a recent addition.

EDIT: Any possible alternate spellings for "giber"? I googled "giber", "jiber", and "gyber" and didn't come up with much, except that "jiber" is apparently a windsurfing term.

I am not sure how it is spelled. it was pronounced alternately gibber and geeber,

Read Genesis chapter 6:
Forgive the hasty, unauthoritative translation:

"When Man began to incrase on the face of the earth and daughters were born to them, the sons of the gods (divine beings? angels?) saw that the daughters of Man were beautiful and took for themselves wives from all that they chose. .... The Nephilim were on earth in those days, and later too, when the sons of God came to the daughters of Man and bore (Children) to them: These were the GIBBORIM (heroes) of antiquity, men of fame."

I think your friends are building something up on the story of the disobedient "sons of God" myth. It was really big in the post-OT, pre-Christian times. The books of Enoch and Jubilees make much of this rebellion, rewriting it as the "watchers" who seduce (and are seduced by) women, create a race of giants and lead humanity on the road to ruin.

Your can get copies of these books (they are very long and complex, but you should run into the watchers pretty early on) at:

Noncanonical / Pseudepigrapha

Cheers.

JRL.
