Default Stupidity knows no denomination

Lest we think it's only Christians who waste their time with prayer ...

From the front page of The Witches Voice, an online pagan/wiccan resource:

Quote:
Request for Watery Ritual Work (Oct. 27)

As you know, much of southern California is burning. The fires, some of them arson, are burning all around the Los Angeles Basin and down into San Diego as well. People and both domestic and wild animals are losing their homes. Would you please do some water magic, rituals, or spellwork on behalf of people of all faiths, domestic and wild animals, trees and plants and gardens, and the hills. You might want to sing James Taylor's song, "Shower the People," and visualize the shower being actual rain as well as love. Many thanks!
That's just great. Of all the things one could do about the fires in California. Now might be a time to call your loved ones, to volunteer (if you live near the blaze), to donate to Red Cross and other groups helping victims of the fires ... but no, let's dance around for the Goddess, thinking wet thoughts and singing James Taylor!

Sorry, didn't mean to rant, this just struck me as so pointless, absurd, and useless ... :banghead:

Grrr.

Yes I know. We've got the Wiccan Wallies this side who, convinced that they made it rain (after 14 dry days in the middle of the rainy season and after not less than 5 days' trying) in Joburg now looking to cast their awesome spell on the poor Californians.

I'm so vexed with their stupidity that I've practically been spitting nails.

To tweak the old slogan a little:

"Ignorance of science is a poor excuse for a belief in magick"

I suppose I should feel sorry for them-it's a pretty obvious sign of radical disempowerment to want to belive that you are controlling the weather-but then I consider that these people are bringing up children and I get mad all over again.
