Sad to you I suppose, I'm guessing they think it's sad that you do accept such a doctrine?

Are you suggesting that the author of Isaiah considered his writing to be part of the Bible at the time he wrote it? If not, then isn't it obvious 'Word" meant something else to him other than "the Bible".

Much!! Check out the links I mentioned above. But God's word came to us in 1611 because He gave us revelation and the KJV is the Bible that He chose for the English speaking world. The KJV was good enough for many for thousands of years so its good enough for me! The NIV/ESV are bloodless bibles!
I dunno, I'm still wondering if there is going to be a April 1..."SUPRISE!!! Wasn't I a funny caricature of those wingnut fundies".

If BJ is for real...wow...

I had a debate with a new evangelical a few weeks back who claimed that my soul winning technique (pass out tracts, engage the sinner in conversation to tell him/her about their hell bound condition) is not the best method. I told him that he denied the doctrine of Sufficiency, because he thinks that the Bible alone is not powerful and effective.

The Bible alone is enough to convict others of their wickedness and to repent and believe.

Isa 55:11--The Word shall not return unto me Void
Jer 23:29--Thy word is like a fire and like a hammer that breaks the rocks in pieces
Eph 6:17-The word is the Sword of the Spirit
Her 4:12-The word of God is quick and powerful and sharper than any two edged sword
2 Tim 3:16-17-All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is useful for doctrine, reproof, for correction and for instruction in righteousness.

The Word of God also provides great benefits

Psa 19:7-8
Eph 5:26
James 1:25
1 Pet 1:23
1 Pet 2:2

All scripture quoted from the King James Version.
I hope every Christian and even religious person would use this method to convert people. What would happen is that we'd start to see a major fall in conversations. This method is utter crap.

It's all about Ego and how it tenaciously clings to anything that seems permanent, eternal, secure, unchanging and authoritative. The Ego thinks that its self will take on those qualities it identifies with. So for the Fundy "the sure word" gives his Ego the boost it is always looking for. It is all about finding certainty and constancy. The circularity of it is of no concern at all.

Evolution has not been proven. Evolution is a lie >Staff edit<

Much evidence of a God in creation exists, but sadly many >Staff Edit< fail to look at the evidences.

I'm not sure what your religious background is, but having been down Fundy Road, I would say that it's not a matter of thinking that you yourself are infallible.

Deus Ex correctly states that the belief is that the person is filled with the "indwelling of the Spirit". There's a strong euphoric sense of "closeness to God", which is reinforced by a strong social connection to other fundies.

It's a feeling of having discovered ultimate truth. So to the rest of the world, it appears as though the person is coming across as infallible, yet all he is really is heavily indoctrinated in a very cult-like teaching that he/she possesses ultimate truth, and that anything (anything!) that contradicts this "truth" is a lie of the devil. Even things as scientifically clear as evolution or the age of the earth become demonic lies meant to thwart the believer.

I never thought of myself as infallible (far from it), but that I had a solid hold on "God's Word", which was infallible in my mind. I felt I was believing precisely the right things.

I am a disciple of Satan. Since I have planted the evidence, it seems kind of silly to accuse me of failing to examine it. Do you have any idea what kind of effort we went through planting all those phony dinosaur fossils? Jeeze, you make it sound so trivial.

I don't know if this is an example of pure tenacity or pure hardheaded-ness. With every thread, it appears that Bill Joey begins with the assumption that we'll be dazzled or humbled by his words. Either way, he's not helping his case any.

...plus, he never actually argues his case. It's more like an infomercial.

Having been down that road myself, I understand that fundamentalists do not consciously think themselves infallible.

However, one of the many reasons I left fundamentalism was the realization that I had no argument for the infallibility of the Bible's authors that did not presuppose that I was myself infallible with respect to certain propositions on which the argument depended.

Satan is a Christian god. Your self righteous twaddle is the best form of service to him. Only believers fear Satan. He is one of your gods, deal with it.
