Default The Bible vs The Quran: A Statistical Analysis

The Bible has a total of 31,173 verses

http://www.christiananswers.net/bible/about.html

The Quran has a total of 6,234 verses

http://www.submission.org/suras/app29.html

So the rounded ratio beween the Bible and the Quran in terms of size is approximately 5:1. In plain terms the bible is 5 times bigger than the Quran.

The rest of the comparison will be based on the Skeptics analysis of both books:

Skeptic's Analysis of the Bible:

http://skepticsannotatedbible.com/

Skeptic's Analysis of the Quran:

http://skepticsannotatedbible.com/quran/index.htm

We will be comparing both the Positive and Negative aspects between these two books.
Bible vs Quran (Remember, the Basis ratio is 5:1)

The Good Stuff:

267 vs 68. The Quran's rate is about 40% better than the bible.

Contradictions:

384 vs 23. The Bible's rate is about 3 times more than the Quran.

Injustice:

1106 vs 681. The Quran's rate is about 3 times more than the bible.

Intolerance:

548 vs 487. The Quran's rate is about 4.5 times more than the bible.

Cruelty and Violence:

858 vs 494. The Quran's rate is about 2.9 times more than the bible.

Note: This is just a quantity comparison. Quantity alone does not make one ultimately better or worst than the other. The quality/worth/intensity of the overall positive and negative instances must also be considered. I suggest you see some of the instances yourselves.

Conclusion: In terms of frequency- though the Quran is slightly better than the bible in positive aspects, it is much worst than the bible in negative aspects. Neither book is perfect but the Quran is worst.

Interesting. Can't be very meaningful at this level, but an interesting thought to analyze.

In terms of boredom quotient, I’d rate the Quran even higher than the Bible. I can actually read parts of the Bible for almost two minutes before tossing it off as mindless drivel. For the Quran all it takes is 30 seconds.

The Bible doesn't look 5 times longer than the Qu'ran. I would like to see a character count (English translation of both) rather than a verse count.

I'm surprised that intolerance count in the Qu'ran is only 4.5 times more. From what I've seen, I would have expected a much higher number.

Neat,

Can you do a comparison between Snow White and Cinderalla next? I've always felt that Snow White had more positive aspects.

I managed to read all the way through the Quran once...reading the listings in the white pages would have been easier. Mohammad was an idiot. Anyone who follows a religion base on the drivel written by that idiot is a fool. A violent fool perhaps, but a fool none the less.

One problem I can see with this analysis is that the Bible is held as the canon, while the Quaran is supplemented by the various Hadiths which together make up a pretty large body of work. I wonder how the comparison would go if those were taken into account?

P.S. They are both bloody non sense, so I guess it really doesn't matter much.

Is the Quran bigger than the New Testament. I get a feel that the new testament is bigger.

As to readability, I feel Gospels, the Book of Proverbs and Song of Solomon are readable. The rest is drivel. Actually if you are really bored, you can even read te Gospels twice .
