Default The Center of Existence

So, the earth is not the Center of Existence huh? How so?

If the Universe is endless, then we must be in its center. In fact we always will be. Why? Because that's what existence is all about, being in the center of who we are ... If you told the bug under the rock that his little domain wasn't the center of the universe, do you think he'd get it? How could he? Else he'd have to concern himself with some other bug under some other rock in some other galaxy far far away, let alone the bug under a rock just two feet away! And do you think that would wash over?

So, is it wrong to believe the earth is the center of the Universe then? Afterall, everything operates from within its center doesn't it? In fact if we understood this, we might understand that the Holy Land of all our mythologies is not someplace out there but, within us.

Earth is the center of our frame of reference. Nothing more. It's not the center in the existential economy of the whole Universe.

Try to read some actual geometry of the Universe. Pluto or Alpha Centauri are as much "center" as we are. Every point in the Universe "sees" the other points moving away from it. It's called expansion. And it's been happening since the Universe came into being

"If the Universe is endless, then we must be in its center."

If the universe is endless, then it has no center.

But the universe isn't endless. If anything is endless, it's space. I'll give you a few minutes to let that one sink in.

But you did remind me of something I like to do...

Ever been caught being selfish and the person who caught you says, "The world doesn't revolve around you?"

Well I have a fun little response I like to say after someone says that.

I say, "Yes it does. It revolves around me, it revolves around you, it revolves around the other 6 billion people on this Earth, and any other life in the universe from the depths of the ocean to the depths of the cosmos."

Was there any point to this statement other than equivocation with the word "center?"

Breathilizer, I usually reply "Well then who does it revolve around?" That tends to aggravate people though.

No, then that suggests the center must be everywhere. Isn't this what our consciousness tells us, that in fact we are the center of who we are?

What, you're saying the Universe is not all inclusive then?

Yes, I am the center of the Universe, just as you are. Hmm ... come to think of it, wouldn't that be another way of saying God embraces everything?

Exactly! ...

as far as a center goes,, i like to think that i am the center of the universe. well,, my mind is anyway. the existence of my consciousness is the only thing i can be certain of, so i guess that does put me in the center. granted, its only a perspective thing, but maybe i am all there is and all of you and all the observable universe is just a dream.

now where did i put my beer.

hehe

Yes, why shouldn't people focus on that which is most intrinsic to them, God in other words?

Yes, everything exists around its own center of being.

Default The Kingdom of God is Within

Quote:
20 And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation:

21 Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you. ~ Luke 17:21-22
