Additionally, I did not ask for negative evidence, as sometimes the absence of evidence is actually evidence of absence. I asked specifically for positive evidence that contradicts the positive evidence supplied by the texts themselves. (Something to help you, or maybe not so much. Consider Tacitus, and your old buddy Josephus, etc. etc. etc.) |

Well, it shouldn't be. If it was the case, it's an indication that he was comparatively minor, in the sense of not having many followers. Theudas had over 400, apparently, and I think, unless I'm mistaken there was supposedly another one, lost to history apart from a brief mention in Josephus, who had upwards of a thousand. Don't quote me on the source. I'd need to check.

This is a fun game. I must try it on someone else sometime. Let me see if I get the rules right. So, you ask somebody what they think about something. If they say they are agnostic about it, you invite them to speculate...and then you accuse them of making assumptions. You should market this quick. Catch the Christmas market.

I am not asking for your opinion. I am asking for you to produce the evidence upon which your assertion is based. |

Oh, I get it. You have to take mind-altering substances before you play the game. Sorry about that. 'Fraid I'm lucid right now. Does that spoil it for you? If it does, you lot could just play without me.

You claim that you do not assume historicity, but you can't come up with any rational evidence and you get all emotional and huffy when this is pointed out. |

I thought you were a serious guy, but you have to be joking. So I am putting on the Limbo music, and I am ready to see how low you can go. Get ready, because you have your work cut out for you. Matthew 4:24 And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatick, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them. Matthew 9:26 And the fame hereof went abroad into all that land. Matthew 9:31 But they, when they were departed, spread abroad his fame in all that country. Matthew 14:1 At that time Herod the tetrarch heard of the fame of Jesus, Mark 1:28 And immediately his fame spread abroad throughout all the region round about Galilee. Luke 4:14 And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about. Luke 4:37 And the fame of him went out into every place of the country round about. Luke 5:15 But so much the more went there a fame abroad of him: and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by him of their infirmities. 1.Matthew 4:25 And there followed him great multitudes of people from Galilee, and from Decapolis, and from Jerusalem, and from Judaea, and from beyond Jordan. Matthew 5:1 And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him: Matthew 8:1 When he was come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him. Matthew 8:18 Now when Jesus saw great multitudes about him, he gave commandment to depart unto the other side. Matthew 9:8 But when the multitudes saw it, they marvelled, and glorified God, which had given such power unto men. Matthew 9:33 And when the devil was cast out, the dumb spake: and the multitudes marvelled, saying, It was never so seen in Israel. Matthew 9:36 But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. Matthew 11:7 And as they departed, Jesus began to say unto the multitudes concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with the wind? Matthew 12:15 But when Jesus knew it, he withdrew himself from thence: and great multitudes followed him, and he healed them all; Matthew 13:2 And great multitudes were gathered together unto him, so that he went into a ship, and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore. Matthew 14:5 And when he would have put him to death, he feared the multitude, because they counted him as a prophet. Matthew 14:14 And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick. Matthew 14:15 And when it was evening, his disciples came to him, saying, This is a desert place, and the time is now past; send the multitude away, that they may go into the villages, and buy themselves victuals. Matthew 14:19 And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the grass, and took the five loaves, and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed, and brake, and gave the loaves to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude. Matthew 14:21 And they that had eaten were about five thousand men, beside women and children. Matthew 15:38 And they that did eat were four thousand men, beside women and children. Matthew 14:22 And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away. Matthew 15:30 And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus' feet; and he healed them: Matthew 15:31 Insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel. Matthew 15:32 Then Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way. Mark 3:7 But Jesus withdrew himself with his disciples to the sea: and a great multitude from Galilee followed him, and from Judaea, Mark 3:8 And from Jerusalem, and from Idumaea, and from beyond Jordan; and they about Tyre and Sidon, a great multitude, when they had heard what great things he did, came unto him.
