To me, the most honest expression of such a point of view is that of Plato and other believers in The Royal-Lie Theory of Religion. Which says that it is legitimate to make people believe in a religion one considers false in order to make them virtuous.

Well, one thing's for sure---making others believe in hell can definitely be prosperous.....
