Liberals are not the only ones that cherry pick the bible, fundamentalists do it too. Liberal Christians are just honest about it. |

Recently, we were advised by one of our 'christian' posters here not to trust The Gospel of John, and this week The Book of Revelation is added.
Funny thing is, over the years I have heard various christians tell me not to trust the Biblical accounts as given in the Book of Genesis, or Exodus, or Leviticus, or Deuteronomy, or Joshua, or Kings, or...Isaiah, Ezekiel, Jeremiah,...... Matthew, Luke, John,..... Acts, James, Peter,...... and as pleased christian bias, all of the various others. But then,.... they would still bring their favorite 'cherry picked' verses to the table from each of these 'untrustworthy books' to bolster whatever bias, argument, or religious conviction that it was that they were trying to impose. Then these christian's wonder why we don't trust the account of The Bible? or any of the even more fabricated and utterly hokey claims of Christian 'witnessing'? |

Jesus himself said that not an iota of the Law ought to be abandoned with his coming, yet how many Christians circumcise their children, or eat kosher? |

This has always been an interesting question to me and I think that this is one of the area where the literal christians would have a problem reconciling what they say to what the bible says.
The bible puts emphasis on the physical body being raised from the dead and liken death to sleeping. Although the souls might be in heaven, I wonder whether the soul as understood by the bible actually contained our essence but not our personality. I'm surprised that some Christians want to push the mind-brain dualism where modern science actually supports an interpretation of the bible that requires the body and brain to be present for us to be present. |
