How's biochemistry?
Super.

My biology prof already knows me for asking good questions and giving good answers. Similarly for my physics teacher, though I'm also known in his class for my Darth Vader ringtone, which went off once to everyone's amusement. (Not my chem prof... he's too young and too dry to get good student participation in his lecture hall.)

I plan to do well this semester.

No, I never advanced in it. It's not really my thing I guess.

Great stuff. You don't owe anybody anything, but I for one really appreciate the efforts you put in to provide such a great resource. Thanks!

Best wishes, Peter

I can't say I speak for him, but like him, I was pretty active for a while (nowhere near the scale he was of course!), but growing older and putting other priorities in life led me to a rethink about how much these esoteric topics really meant to me.

As an ex-Christian, what led me into the whole debate was curiosity, and for a long time, that curiosity could hold my entire attention. A stint in a war-torn country and 2 close brushes with death later, I realised that my was curiosity satisfied to a degree that I could live with, and have found it just incredibly difficult to feel the same sense of importance or even joy in this area (relearning the context and jargon is actually quite difficult - yet there was a time when I was reading the literature in French because all the early minimalist work was there!).

Not to say people who still enjoy it should ever stop asking questions and learning, but for me personally, the interest is simply no longer there, and I totally support Peter to do what is important to him.

The biggest loss will be ready access to the WEB translation, easily the best translation available. Now I'll have to use Perseus if I want it

I trust that someone will pick up the baton

I've lost some context here; which translation is this?

Just a note...both sites are still accessible through the Internet Archives Wayback Machine! Just stick in the url and hit search.

That's true now but it wasn't earlier this week for earlychristianwritings.
The site is now vacant, but earlier this week it was being occupied by someone using a robots.txt file to prevent crawlers. This, under the Wayback Machine's policy retrospectively blocks access via the Archive.

Andrew Criddle

(I have been in contact with the Archive about this issue and they have long term plans to resolve this sort of situation but no short or medium term solution.)
