Why anyone would actually believe that the Lord is so petty is beyond me.
One has to get beyond the trash and find the true teachings of God. PROJECTION By New 10. Because Jesus is an empty page (left up to the interpretation of the believer) believers can make him say and do anything the believers want. In other words the believers put into the mouth of Jesus what the believers want to hear, that is why the believers can read his mind, called projection. Another way to say it the believer and Jesus are one. I rest my case. |

Good post! Another helpful hypothesis is that they feel a need to back up their opinions. What better way to do that than to have an imaginary friend agree with you all the time? "Bu-bu-bu-but... Je-Je-Je-sus said..." |

So, this aspect of the examination of the Christian claims regarding Jesus are as untouchable to rational argument as talking about the myths and legends swirling around characters such as Robin Hood, King Arthur, Elvis, JFK, etc. It does not invalidate the value of myth and legend and does not purport to provide evidence of a historical Jesus. There is a difference and claiming that one critical examination covers and refutes both would be done in error. |

Let's smother the personal insults, shall we, and debate?
On topic, I agree that Jesus, like other religious figures, can become a projection of what the person's inner beliefs are. Jesus becomes the embodiment of their own ideals, verses are picked over and chosen to support each and every conviction they have, regardless of whether those convictions have any basis in reality. Some Christians that I have come across seemingly have no knowledge of the words Christ actually is quoted as saying in the Bible. They have a general "Christ was good and died for our sins" belief that they use to counter every sound arguement from Christ's existence to what he stood for. Tangie |
