I have not read all of abe's comments, but I have read a quantity sufficient to recognize that they are not 1/100 the value, (for one, like me, who is appallingly ignorant) of Earl's scholarly efforts.

I don't make any claim to understand Earl's book. I will revise that.
I don't understand Earl's book.

I do disagree with Earl, on the point of "using" Paul's letters. I fault myself, not Earl, for that.

Abe, I think you owe Earl an apology. I never saw Earl disappear from the scene, as you have done on multiple occasions: "self-ban". You stir up a hornet's nest, and then run away, rather than address the issues raised against your silly platitudes.
I self-ban because FreeRatio.org is a distraction from academia and a serious addiction. Not kidding. I stir up a hornet's nest, sure. I run away, sure. But, I am conscious to address very many of the issues raised against my silly platitudes. If you happen to have any specific issues in mind, then please bring them to my attention, and I will be happy to fully address them.

OK, I'll do that.

Not all the libraries have copies. Mine does not. It is a rather specialized less than popular book despite how our little community feels about it.

Yeah, my own library most certainly does not stock any books by Doherty, but, if I ask them for a copy, then it is conceivable that they would purchase one. That is what I took avi's suggestion to mean.

Yeah, I have used that in the past, as you know. I don't think any of the libraries that I presently have access to do such a thing, unfortunately.

McGrath is basically saying that the whole "Jesus is a myth" discussion is like talk-radio for conspiracy-oriented anti-Christians.

I.e., McGrath has no substantive criticisms, so he must rely on insults.

Yea that seems to be the case. A gaggle of adults getting excited over a bunch of unreliable iron age fiction about a 1st century faith healer deserves more respect.

The point is that arguing with mythers is like arguing with birthers, but without having the birth certificate to pull out at the opportune moment.

If you had any sort of evidence, you wouldn't have to descend to insults like this.
