I don't know. I was only quoting a mainstream Biblical historian, so quite possibly it was sheer junk.

Or the entire Jesus story was literal and prophetic. And this was understood by the first century believers.
Except it was written in the second century. So it didn't matter what the first century believers thought. They hadn't read the story yet.

Yes, its also very strange that the history of Philostratus writing in the 3rd century (about Apollonius of Tyana) also never once mentions either "the story" or "the christians".
