They came from somewhere else
Yes, they invaded what became their "homeland" after coming from somewhere to the North of that, according to the Oxford Historical Atlas and other references.
Interestingly, most of the mass migrations of that era involved mobile tribes from northern areas where farming was not good but the people were quite tough, streaming southward into warm areas where prosperity had built up, but the people had become settled and somewhat "soft." This applied to the Goths invading Rome, the Manchu and later the Mongol people invading China, and the Turkic and Magyar people invading what are now Turkey and Hungary. |
