I have always felt that you are among the most intelligent people around.

Please remember that self-hatred is a drug too.

See ya Vor. I think you're being too hard on yourself. One of the conventions of forum posting is a certain edginess and aggressiveness that most of us wouldn't exhibit in person. It's the nature of the medium, not you.

Michael,

From the apologies you posted, it looks like you've only offended four or five people here. Hell, I offend four or five Christians per day. I think it comes from answering the same silly questions again and again. And there's nothing like fundie pride ("I'm saved--are you?") to irritate a thinking person.

Take time off if you must, but never suffer foolishness gladly. We'll all miss your knowledge, intelligence, and clarity.

Take a breath - it's good to get away.

However, there are some around here who rely on your thorough logic and hard work (ref. the Mark project). Get back soon.

Where is this thread where V made such terrible faux paus? It can't be that bad. One can get burned out on these board things though. Be well.

It wasn't a thread - it was actually unrelated to IIDB. And it's not available anymore.

Which of course inspires one to say:

"Thou hast commited-- Fornication: but that was in another country; and besides, the wench is dead."

- Marlowe.

ETA: a fuller quote.

Alas, I return from a very brief absence from the IIDB to find that its very heart has been ripped out. You will be missed, Michael.

Stunning news. Just today I referred someone to your fabulous commentary on Mark.

I don't know what event precipitated your decision, but keep in mind that IIDB folks wouldn't "play" if we weren't a pretty resilient and thick-skinned bunch.

We'll miss ya. Get some distance, take some time, and hui lai when you're ready.

OK, we have granted you that extension. It has now been long enough. Your leave has now been revoked. Haven't you heard the adage, you can't eat just one potato chip? Do you want us to go into withdrawal symptoms?

You have not hurt anyone. Those whom you think you have hurt are masochists otherwise they would not keep coming back for more. :Cheeky: Besides many of them think they are getting heavenly brownie points by being suffering servants. How can you deny them the satifaction while at the same time arming those who sit on the fence posts with information?

You are hereby requested to return. I for one value your posts even if I have neglected to say so in the past.
