Default Jesus Deconverted to Atheism During the Crucifixion?

"God, why have you forsaken me?" seems to be a pretty good sign that Jesus deconverted from his views during the crucifixion.

What do you think? :Cheeky:

In what context do you normally find people quoting well known literature in extremesis?

Plays?

I'm sure it's been brought up before around IIDB, but that's not what he said. He said "Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit."

Er... or was it "It is finished."?

Oh.. no, wait... maybe you're right!

Some early sects of Christianity believed in adoptionism. That the spirit of YHWH entered Jesus at his baptism, and left him before death on the cross. Jesus would have been crying out to YWHW for leaving him in his final moments.

I believe it was meant to be a joke.

Well almost almost 1/6 of the world's inhabitants believe that Jesus was a perfect Muslim all through his life.

It's the beginning of a prayer. Not a renouncement of God. He's calling a shot.

Psalm 22:30 Posterity will serve him;
future generations will be told about the Lord.
They will proclaim his righteousness
to a people yet unborn—
for he has done it.

The Fundie Answer: As Jeebus hung on the cross, all of Man's sin (some say original sin only, not the "little sins") was heaped upon him. Since gawd (the daddy) could not bear to look upon sin, he turned away from Jeebus. It was the first time Jeebus had ever been separated from daddy, and it freaked him out. Hence, "My gawd, my gawd, why hast thou foresaken me?" a.k.a. "eloi, eloi, lamasabacthani"

Not exactly as a fundie would express it, but you get the idea.
