of course not. "myth" is NOT synonymous with religion. Paul Bunyan and Babe the blue ox are mythical. There exists zero religious aspect to that myth. The account is not sacred. Every myth without exception is fictional. Some myths are "sacred". Others are secular. Communication requires precision in word usage, this is why I jump and down over the incorrect application of "retrojection" and "falsification". Here again, "mythological" seems to have struck some peculiar chord in the mindset of those scholars whose speciality is, in broadest terms, the social sciences/humanities. Please use English, as if communicating with those who must look up every word in a dictionary, instead of as a secret code, intending to obfuscate. myth: something untrue, fictitious, and supernatural. avi |

Myth is a story which explains the origins of a cult or a rite.
Normally, nobody can extract any real history from the myths, but ancient people understood myths to be the real history. |

Joseph Campbell wrote about two dozen or so books on myth. I have read most of them. I agree with Joseph Campbell. Or, rather, Joseph Campbell agreed with me.
