I have nothing against faith especially it manifest so often in life and our relationship with clients, friends and relatives. But I do have something against blind faith. The amount of faith I put into my beliefs, certain theories and abilities is based on my experience and understanding of them as simple as that.
Salyed, To be franked with you, I was once an orthodox Buddhist but gradually, I find out that (or so I believe) it did nothing more than serves to encourage my self-delusion and elevate my ego and sense of identity. As for the status, itself, it was nothing except to act as a blockage to prevent me from seeing other beleifs, views and things more objectively. After some unforgetable experiences with some extreme Buddhists, I came to realize that my doubt in that illusionary status is well-founded. And as time goes, I start to think more independently and my understanding of the middle path and emptiness grows even faster than when I was a hardcore believer. I meet many monks before, most of time, they aren't concerned much about rebirth, devas, heavenly realms etc and certainly they don't spend much time preaching about them (not karma though). The most surprising part is that when you asked them about rebirth, they are not in the least of concern at all. Perhaps, they reached the stage of seeing through the pointlessness of sticking to "the names and forms". Or perhaps they had reached the stage of no rebirth. Either which I could not tell and my doubt again doesn't seem to bother them . But seriously though, salyed, your understanding of Buddhism is still quite swallow, of course you can complain and doubt me but in time to come, you will realize that fact yourself. At any rate, I think that I will stop here. For if I continue to repeat or explain further, others might call me a nagging old man. :rolling: Besides, I'm quite busy in the coming week. Well, life is suffering. :rolling: See you around......... :snooze: :snooze: |

So, you are a Buddhist, but not orthodox. What is the point? Just be less egocentric - you don't need to give special accolades to Buddhism for that. It's common sense. |
