Damn, very sad. Still, making it to *84* at all isn't a bad accomplishment...

I read this news the other day and I'm horribly saddened. Of all the people who don't deserve Alzheimers', he's at the top of the list. Granted, I have never met him, but most stories I've heard of him indicate taht he is a genuinely decent human being. In the movie Trekkies he told a genuinely moving story of a suicidal fan he ended up helping.

I had the good fortune of meeting James Doohan about 15 years ago. He was witty and seemed a sincerely nice person. I wish him the best.

No, No, NO!!!!
I had a chance to meet him 12 years ago. I missed that chance. :banghead: He will be missed when he dies. I met Mark Lenard (Ambassador Sarek, Spock's fathers) A few months before he died. I saw him standing in convention with a guard. I walked up to him shook his and hand an talk to him for a while. He was a nice guy. |

death comes to all, and the guy did have a good innings. we should be happy for that. on'ya scotty.
although it's not good to see somebody with alzheimers, is there any evidence that the person with alzheimers is suffering all that much? |

I met Doohan just before Star Trek IV came out. Very warm, friendly guy, very kind to a starstruck young Trekkie.

Scotty was always my favourite when I was a little kid. All the rest of the crew members were so damn foreign
![]() This makes me sad. |
