There's a new, "slim bible":

The 100-minute Bible, aimed at the "hurried and harried" generation, was launched at Canterbury Cathedral on Wednesday by its author, the Reverend Michael Hinton.

While the original takes about a week of solid reading to finish, the abbreviated version can be read from cover to cover in under two hours, Mr Hinton said.

I read about that as well.
I did wonder that since they claim to have "merged" the 4 Gospels into one they have at the same time get rid of those "inconvenient" inconsistencies as well .
An article I read on this started off by saying "Who Dares abridge the Word of God " (Daily Telegraph 22nd Sept 2005)well for one I would say the Church of England would as they had already abridged the Bible to just 66 books anyway
