If you think his posts are not responsive and just clutter up the thread, you can report them for moderator action. But you cannot turn this into an exercise in repetitive ping pong that goes nowhere. |

I was over on Christian websites, presenting my case against the inerrancy yet basic truthfulness of the gospels, and atheists come over and tell us again and again that there are no eyewitnesses to Jesus. I respond with my case. They repeat their charge. So I get my act together so tightly that I identify seven eyewitnesses who wrote about Jesus. They still keep arguing that Christianity is false because there are no eyewitnesses. So I asked them to recommend an atheist website where I could test out my theories where I would get a fair hearing. The only recommendation that came was FRDB. So here I am. But I'm still getting told that I cannot believe what I believe because they don't believe what I believe. Aren't there any open-minded people anywhere? Everybody's on one side or another (including those who have firmly decided not to decide). There I get told I have to believe like a Fundamentalist. Here I get told I have to accept the preconceptions of atheists. So I guess it's war, you have to be fighting on one side or another. Poor me, convinced the truth is somewhere in the middle, getting attacked by the soldiers on both sides. |

Very little in the NT can be verified. Your theories are in the realm of speculation, not matter how faithful or spiritually inspired. And there's nothing wrong with that, so long as it's offered as a personal view. But when asserted as fact, there's going to be trouble around here. It seems to me that many Xtians confuse history and theology. If you have no faith without history, you have no faith at all. |

There are MANY forum members who share your belief in the divinity of Jesus of Nazareth. I won't list their names, but, you err in presupposing that the folks on this forum are all "close minded". I happen to be one of the very few, genuinely "close-minded" individuals, of this forum, so this particular thread may be ill-suited to your purposes, sorry for my rigidity of thought. I hope I am not going to argue with you, or anyone else, that you must change your beliefs to conform to my own particular notions. This thread, which does wander a bit, is intended to focus on how HJ theory is distinct from the MJ theory, to clarify the issues, rather than to complain about individual participants' personalities, so, in that narrow sense, I must offer a slender rebuke, because your submission seems to be addressing not the OP, but your reaction to the response your earlier submissions received. Here, you need to focus on explaining why you think the new or old testament supports the notion of an historical Jesus of Nazareth. For me, the story is a fable, as genuine as the gossip about Hercules as son of Zeus. Cheers, |

While I agree with you to never have seen Christianity [as we know it] with the forces of good, you must be something to enjoy your engagement in this.

He says he is willing to answer any relevant questions. -You are welcome to ask him how he does it Hint; Actually he's telling us that he believes in all of the miracle stories. And here he is whining that we are not 'open minded' because -we- are not willing to also believe in and 'go along' with these stories, because -his- whole line of argument depends on -us- just knuckling under and doing so . |
