Yelling “It’s true if you just try hard and believe” won’t get you very far. Try appealing to other aspects of our mentality. Asking to people to try believing in order to believe is like asking a paraplegic to try walking in order to walk, the best result you can expect is for people to fall flat on their face.
The analogy doesn't work.
In your situation, there's no external force that guarantees the desired response, to walk.
In the other, an external force (God) guarantees the desired response, to reach and communicate with God.

Instead try arguing why you believe god exists. If your only arguments come in the form of personal experience then you’ll have very little luck converting the fence sitters here.
It's my commission to be a vessel for the Word and an example. I've explained why I know God exists, and it's hopefully been received properly by those meant to receive it.
STC -

You really haven't explained anything. You've made some unsupported assertions of your personal experiences. That just doesn't cut it, and amounts to nothing more than preaching. If you're unwilling or unprepared to advance some more substantive discussion, don't be surprised if this thread gets locked and/or dropped to ~E~.

STC I have answered this question several times in this thread alone.
No you haven't but glad to know you have accepted Allah and that Jesus was nothing more than a man who died in India.

STC Then you would be incorrect. You shouldn't trust your internet message board psychoanalysis skills that much, if at all.
Hmmm? when did i psychoanalyze? never got a degree in it nor do i attempt. nice way to not answer anything by the way. Non answers are simply a way for you to obfuscate the fact that you cant answer something.

I noticed you didnt accept my challenge...why is that? to tothers the challenge was that all STC had to do is pray that god would come into my heart. Apparently he does not have the faith of a mustard seed. instead he responded with:

STC Could be today, could be next year, could have been 10 years ago. But He will Speak to you.
So the whole prayer and faith of mustard seed is as useless as tits on a bore hog then. You can not differentiate it from random chance? So why bother? Sorry i don't suffer from delusions or Cognitive Dissonance but hey whatever your own imaginative delusions keep telling you are find until it does the whole kill all those who don't believe.

By the way why would God need YOU to defend him? Why do you imagine your so special? Do you realize the amount of Hubris it takes to think that a ultimate being needs a fallible little nothing of a human to defend them? So far your posts have been a pretty poor example. Seams to me God would of chosen some one who actually was able to make a decent argument.

I did pray for you, and for all on this board and elsewhere who lack Christ. In His time, He will speak to you.

He doesn't "need" me. He commissions me to defend him, though.

SlowTrainComing has already suggested to me that I had a genuine experience of receiving the Holy Spirit. So I have had experience of both sides of the coin and I can understand how persuasive the experience can be, but I can also say how it has no exclusive difference from any other religious experience.

Essentially STC has to offer us a reason why the 'Holy Ghost' experience cannot be generalised to any other religion and I don't believe there is an answer to this. Even the special attributes I gained after my experience like speaking in tongues, new heightened religious sensitivities, new ideas about bible verses etc. etc. etc. I later realised could also be generalised to other religious experiences that detracted from the exclusivity of my own.

The seal of the Holy Ghost might be stabilising for some people and change their life for the better. I believe though it is much better to recognise it for what it is and have a stable mind based on humanistic thinking ideally.

Why pray then I wonder? I thought the only agency of salvation was someone's willingness to knock and isn't that down to freewill and not prayer? And Christ's time? - I thought he opens doors unconditionally at the command of the person knocking so what has his time got to do with it? Isn't it all based on the will of the person?

In any case why pray? Are you doing it to try and manipulate someone's free will into knocking - or are you doing it to try and manipulate Christ into doing something in his own time??

Book, chapter and verse, please. Or is that another one of those things the holey spook whispered in your ear?

As the all-powerful creator of the universe, you'd think he'd be able to defend himself.
