When considering categorical entities such as Injustice, Intolerance, Cruelty and Violence, you have to realize that much of the punishments delineated in the Qur'an refer to the hereafter. It does NOT apply towards earthly punishments. Thus, these punishments have NOT taken place (yet). The Bible (OT+ NT) seem to have a tremendous amount of narrations regarding earthly punishments....infanticides, slavery....the whole deal.. And when you factor in moral relativity and pragmatics....the statistics would not be able to consider the scope of philosophical..

Good point. Though the cruel and violent punishment of the innocent by an intolerant god is still unjust, intolerant, cruel, and violent. And the people who write of it approvingly and venerate the writings reveal their cruel, unjust, intolerant, and violent character by doing so.

It would be interesting to compare the OT and NT separately with the Quran too.

I second this, and i think that would be more fruitful, in terms of the time-period of the books consisting the OT, NT and the Quran, i think it is better, since the Quran is written in a very short time-period compared to the whole of the bible, but to break it to NT and OT might make it more meaningful.

That, and im curious as to its comparison to the OT, since its 'spirit' or 'message' so to speak, is far closer (fear God, fear hell etc etc).

Still, pretty interesting comparison, i wouldnt mind reading a more formal study of it if someone ever does do it.

The problem I see is that some of these properties are "sort of" intensive and some "sort of" extensive. Contradictions are more likely in a longer work, particularly if it contains two or more accounts of the same topic. So they might better be compared to the square of the length.

The reverse is probably true of injustice, for example. This might form a common theme, so the same injustice is counted many times.

Just a thought.

David.
