I didn't even know there was a Skeptic Channel.
If your church is the only place you can be met, that doesn't sound very normal. |

*BZZZZZT* Wrong answer Dave. Your cowardly avoidance record is still 429 days and counting. |

The data has not changed, Dave. Lake Suigetsu demonstrates that most of Genesis is bunk. Garbage. Crap. Mythology at best. I, a devout Christian with a damn sight better understanding of the Bible than you will ever possess, tell you so. What's more, I demonstrated to the world, or the readership here at any event, that you simply don't understand calibration curves. Because you don't have a convenient pseudo-scientific creationist nonsense site to quote from, no doubt. Tell me, Dave: do you honestly think that anyone is fooled by your evasions and illogical arguments? Anyone? Perhaps you should consider learning some science and stop making Christians look like idiots. Because you're doing a damn good job of making any actual attempt at conversion impossible. <edit> |

Oh, and Dave? I spoke to my solicitor. He has contacted Dr. Leakey. Perhaps you'll be lucky and the good doctor will consider you a harmless crank.

When will you admit the truth? When will you find the guts to admit what you really believe in? You are not stupid, dave. You KNOW that the ONLY way entirely DIFFERENT methods, dealing with entirely DIFFERENT natural laws and procedures, can give results that are WRONG supposedly, but are in AMAZING CONSILLIENCE, pointing to an old age for the Earth, is that: A. The data is FABRICATED (all scientists are frauds), or B. The data is NOT WRONG AFTER ALL (the Earth IS old). These are your options, dave. A Great Global Evil Atheist Scientific Conspiracy, or Young Earth Creationism being WRONG. Now, we all know which one you believe in. We are just wondering when you will finally find the drawers to come out and say it, instead of repeating your evasions like a broken record. |

This thread (and related ones) is an amazing study in the effects of fundamentalism. I applaud the efforts here to inject reality into this poor guy's head, but it seems pointless. I have coined a term to describe this affliction. It is to me "reality terrorism." It is similar to radical islam though thankfully in this case it seems to manifest itself differently. The effort required to ignore and explain away all reality in order to maintain the biblical illusion must be tremendous. Governments love these people because of how readily they are controlled. They vote and they're dangerous. I sometimes find humor in reading this but more than anything it makes me sad that there are so many people like this.

It's quite clear that when Jefferson spoke of all men being equal, he was not referring to the gifts they were given by nature, but rather to some equivalence of value based on - for lack of a better term - soul; some quality endowed them independent of their value to society. In the creationist case, what is more disturbing is their inability to continue to learn; to continue to educate themselves.
