Dr. Zhivago.
This film also features the most beautiful and passionate piece of music ever written for film, "Lara's Theme." Well, the second most beautiful and passionate--I actually put Princess Leia's Theme from "Star Wars: A New Hope" first. Gregg |

Have any of you guys seen At Play in the Fields of the Lord? Its about these missionaries going into the Amazon Rainforest and I heard it was quite good. I've only seen a few scenes but they were quite amazing

I'm surprised so many of you nominated films by Asian people. I didn't know those movies (other than Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon) were popular in the US, although I got some idea from Spirited Away.
My parents watched it and thought Crouching Tiger was boring and ordinary, but that's probably because they grew up watching things with a more fascinating plot and more beautiful scenery being from Taiwan and all. They thought it was amusing that westerners liked it so much. For them it was "mada mada dane". ![]() I think it was superb though. All of Hayao Miyazaki's films are beautiful and gorgeous in my opinion. Spirited Away is my favorite though. I love LOtR, and I think that Pirates of the Carribean was wonderful. Is it really true that Disney made it? I didn't think Disney was up to it. Some scenes from Harry Potter were nice I thought, but the plotline compared to the scenery was a bit drabby. |

Last of the Mohicans
The Age of Innocence -- not much happens, but Daniel Day-Lewis counts as "great scenery"! Both of these movies are in the category of "Daniel Day-Lewis and NOT NEARLY ENOUGH kissyface." After seeing Age of Innocense and Gangs of New York, I think that Scorcese can make beautiful movies but there seems to be a plot and continuity problem in those two. |
