The only person throwing mud, Ted, is you. Repeatedly. In fact, this entire post attests to your short-term, strawman memory, your inability to grasp what is being contested, and your abject failure to engage anyone on reasonable terms. This, your post, is a rant. An empty, polemical, invective laden piece of rhetoric that stands out in my recollection of IIDB posts as being among the least relevant to anything offered in the surrounding context

The simple fact is that this long-winded post addresses absolutely nothing of what was said about the merits of mythicists versus the merits of historicists--a topic Doherty, and not I, brought up. Not a word, Ted. And all the rhetoric in the world won't change the fact that you not only offer no substantiative response to the caveats I raised, you further exhibit a complete lack of understanding of the context or intent of those caveats.

One day, perhaps, you will move beyond ad hoc tirades about the Jesus Myth, and realize that not everything is a response or defense of it (which neither my, nor the post of Doherty I responded to, was). That day, apparently, has not dawned yet.

But a day has dawned when it seems to have become a moral imperative to no longer facilitate Ted's hate campaign against HJ scholars or anyone who points out the holes in the MJ thesis.

I suggest then that from now on he be "sent to Coventry" and that none of us ever again responds to anything he posts here or elsewhere.

I think that sounds like a dandy idea--I can state with some confidence that we won't miss much.

As an aside, I just learned some rather distressing news. Apparently (like so many others), Geoff Hudson has realized that I don't exist

I'm rather saddened to learn that my friends and family in Calgary aren't really my friends and family since, like virtually every poster on every e-list/messageboard, I in fact live in Chicago.
