Post I've come down w/ a case of Christianity.....

Is christianity a disease, its effect and methods appear to behave exactly as a virus does? Of course this is only an analogy, but the methods of perpetuation and spreading are almost identical to that of a virus. The term for this is MEME.

meme : (pron. 'meem')
A contagious idea that replicates like a virus, passed on from mind to mind.
Memes function the same way genes and viruses do, propagating through communication networks and face-to-face contact between people.
the root of the word 'memetics', is a field of study which postulates that the meme is the basic unit of cultural evolution.

Check this site out. It is kindof an interesting way to look at fundies. Maybe in this context we can find a cure for it.

Let's see. Finding a "cure" for a minority religious group who are, in fact, actually a "virus." Where have I heard such rhetoric before?

Ah yes, Berlin, 1939.

Holy Crap, rhetoric, did you even read the link? I'm not talking the persecution of people because of their beliefs, Im talking about the spread of this meme that is information. Not the persecution of people. Doctors don't kill a patient to cure a cold.

I can't believe you compared me to a Nazi. In fact, the Nazi movement was the victim of a meme as well.

Get a clue dude, and the next time you post here, make it something that actually pertains to the topic.

ROFLOL, I find your response hilarious. It is a screaming joke that a skeptic would be SO shocked to be compared to a Nazi, which is a favored tactic of many a hardcore skeptic against conservative Christians.

Kind of like, Hate the Belief, but Love the Believer?

Just so I am clear on this whole "meme" "virus" thing, are you saying that your meme that Christianity is a meme is true, while my meme that your meme that my meme that Christianity is true, is actually false?

Just wondering.

so far Im gettin some really disappointing responses to this.

Nomad, you are really out there, do you really think that me saying that christianity is a meme is not a criticism? Surely isn't a compliment. Dumbass.

And laymen, so you apparently associate athiests and agnostics with Nazi's.
Now lets look at this association......

***

Christian-Believes whole heartedly in a book and will not accept anyone elses beliefs that disagree and is mandated by the book to get other people to believe it.

Nazi- Believes in his arian race, will not accept anyone elses race, and will force anyone that contradicts them to agree.

Athiest- Doesn't care what others believe. But is interested in discussing viewpoints and expressing his own.

***

Christian-willing to kill to spread the word(Crusades)

Nazi-Willing to kill to force submission(WWII)

Athiest- doesn't care what you believe.

Do I need to go on?

I knew it. Give an atheist enough time and they will compare the Christians to the Nazis.

You forgot one point of comparison.

Atheists such as Stalin, Lenin, Mao=150 million dead in 50 years. THAT is an accomplishment.

Of course it's a criticism you twit. I knew that already, and how you came to think that I didn't get it is a mystery we are likely never to solve.

My question to you was that since your belief that Christianity is just a meme, is itself obviously just a meme, why should we treat it any differently than you have treated the Christian meme? Now answer the question.

LOL! Did you have to take graduate studies to get this smart?

I must admit though, you methods of argumentation do have... well... something.

I know that you will, but truly wish that you would not. For your own sake.

Does that ring any bells for you dumbass. Makes about as much sense as the bible does.

If you look at the definition of a meme you will see that the difference is that my comments have none of the requirements or mandates or self perpetuating characteristics, or the ability to change its host the way the christianity meme has obviously changed you. The only thing I have done is recognized that the Bible does.

Me telling you this doesn't require you to pass it on to everyone you know and your offspring, nor does it setup any criteria for how you are to behave or absorb this information.

If you want to learn more about what a meme it is all over the internet.

or

Since you don't have a clue, here is one you can buy.

The Virus of the Mind

Layman, Stalin, and the crew were politically motivated. This is human nature, has nothing to do with athiesm. Name one part of the word or definition of athiesm that even refers to how you should feel about and treat other people.

He shoots, he misses.
