I can't speak for everyone, but this so-called "greatest event in history" really makes no difference to me. I am sorry if you are offended by indifference to your religion, but you should be used to it by now. Not everyone cares about stupid crap like this.

I'm curious how your claim to "indifference" is reconciled with your presence on a posting board dedicated to "Biblical Criticism and Archeology."

Perhaps he reads other's posts here and sees something that he must respond to, like an attack on his beliefs.

Cheers!

The fact that he bothers to respond belies the claim to "indifference." Don't ya think?

Someone up above said the Bible is nothing special.

I guess that is why so many copies are sold and why it is studied so much.

OK argumentum ad numeram.

Sorry I metnioned it!

Blessings and Peace

One may be indifferent to the existence of Jesus, but still get exercised over the illogic and bad arguments perpetrated by the followers of Jesus.

I have seen the statistic that the Bible is the most shoplifted book in history.

Next time take into consideration the context of my statements. Historical events in the Bible are no more important than historical events outside of the bible. That is what I refered to when I said there is nothing special about the Bible.

And being widely distributed says no more about the Bible than it does about the Koran or the Bhagavad-Gita or whatever. Does being widely distributed mean that the Koran is the Absolute Truth?

Hell, why stop there?

hezekiahjones, I've seen your posts and thought you knew better than this.

The best MSS do not have the verses in Mark that you mentioned. They end at Mark 16:8. As a matter of fact the verses beyond Mark 16:8 seem to be strongly non-Markan (see Bruce Metzger's Textual Commentary on the GNT).
