Laura,

No, I want to hear your explanations and replies to my objections. Or do you intend to disobey your bible?

Collosians 4 (NIV)
5
Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity.

6
Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.

1 Peter 3 (NIV)

15
But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.

Psalms 119 (NIV)

41
May your unfailing love come to me, O Lord, your salvation according to your promise;

42
then I will answer the one who taunts me, for I trust in your word.

****

If you ignore my entire last post again, Laura, I will assume you cannot answer my objections.

To put it simply we (Christians) would never know when our Lord was to come. We were to watch and be ready always. We are to Live the Life of a Christian. We know that our Salvation is found in the Lord Jesus Christ.

The Commandments of Jesus:

Matthew 22:37-39

" Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment."

" And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself."

Neighbour - Fellow Man

Cool

Laura,

What makes you right, and all the other Chrisitans over the last two millenia who have predicted the End Times wrong? Are you a better Christian than they were?

In around 93CE, Saint Clement said the end of the world was nigh.

In 100CE so did Saint Ignatius.

In 365CE, so did Saint Hilarius of Poitier.

Moving forwards a few years, 800CE was the target date for armageddon of the Spanish monk Beatus.

Over a millenium later, with armageddon still no-where in site, no lesser a personage than Martin Luther predicted the end of the world would be in 1600.

Martin Luther was wrong of course, because back in 1501 Christopher Columbus had predicted the end of the world would occur in 1656 CE.

Do you want me to continue? Let's move into the twentieth century.

Back in 1952 a young Billy Graham is reputed to have said that the end of the world would take place in a year or two.

Televangelist J.R. Church has been trumpeting various dates for armageddon since the the eighties, initially promising us a royal roasting from 1988 to 1995, though when 1988 turned up without incident he's now promising 2001 to 2007, though that first date's not looking to likely.

If anyone's interested, most of this information comes from this fascinating URL: http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Oracle/9941.

So you see, Laura, you're just the latest in a long history of Christians all utterly convinced that the end of the world is coming, and probably like you some of them saying "sooner than you think."

So, please tell us why you're right, and a plethora of your fellow Christian doomsayers have been wrong.

Deuteronomy 13:1 The entire word that I command you, that shall you observe to do; you shall not add to it and you shall not subtract from it. [2] If there should stand up in your midst a prophet or a dreamer of a dream, and he will produce to you a sign or a wonder, [3] and the sign or the wonder comes about, of which he spoke to you, saying "Let us follow gods of others that you did not know and we shall worship them!" [4] do not hearken to the words of that prophet or to that dreamer of a dream, for HASHEM, your G-d, is testing you to know whether you love HASHEM, your G-d with all your heart and with all your soul. [5] HASHEM, your G-d, shall you follow and Him shall you fear; His commandments shall you observe and to His voice shall you hearken; Him shall you serve and to Him shall you cleave. [6] And that prophet and that dreamer of a dream shall be put to death, for he had spoken perversion against HASHEM, your G-d Who takes you out of the land of Egypt, and Who redeems you from the house of slavery to make you stray from the path on which HASHEM, you G-d, has commanded you to go; and you shall destroy the evil from your midst. (Artscroll)

Deuteronomy 18:15 A prophet from your midst, from your brethren, like me, shall HASHEM, your G-d, establish for you to him shall you hearken. [16] According to all that you asked of HASHEM, your G-d, in Horeb on the day of the congregation, saying, "I can no longer hear the voice of HASHEM, my G-d, and this great fire I can no longer see, so that I shall not die." [17] Then HASHEM said to me: They have done well in what they have said. [18] I will establish a prophet for them from among their brethren, like you, and I will place My words in his mouth; He shall speak to them everything that I will command him. [19] And it shall be that the man who will not hearken to My words that he shall speak in My name, I will exact from him, [20] But the prophet who willfully shall speak a word in My name, that which I have not commanded him to speak, or who shall speak in the name of the gods of others that prophet shall die. [21] When you say in your heart, "How can we know the word that HASHEM has not spoken?" [22] If the prophet will speak in the Name of HASHEM and that thing will not occur and not come about that is the word that HASHEM has not spoken; with willfulness has the prophet spoken it, you should not fear him. (Artscroll)

It's pretty clear to me that Hashem makes it pretty darn clear that he will rise prophets up from amongst the brethren, yadda yadda yadaa, but if the prophecies he makes do not come true and if the prophet DIES he is a false prophet and the sons of Israel are not to follow him. Wouldn't you say these are pretty explicit directions???

Jesus' prophecies have not come true. Jesus died. No where in the OT does Hashem say that he will sacrifice his a prophet or come in the form of a man
Numbers 23:19 G-d [is] not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do [it]? Or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? (KJV)

Psalms 146:3 Put not your trust in princes, [nor] in the son of man, in whom [there is] no help. (KJV)

Also, the use of the word LORD in reference to the man Jesus was a complimentary title used to describe many people in the bible, no different then using sir or your honor in modern language.

Brighid

Numbers 23:19 G-d [is] not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do [it]? Or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? (KJV)

Psalms 146:3 Put not your trust in princes, [nor] in the son of man, in whom [there is] no help. (KJV)

Laura,

Your last post is obviously unsatisfactory. You have ignored my objections outright twice in a row now, so I conclude justifiably that you are unable to answer and defend your faith. Perhaps you should study up a bit more before entering the debating ring.

Earl, also notice how she didn't respond to the post about how the "revived Roman Empire" thing is bunk.

La Pede,

No, she's not one for seriously engaging arguments, is she? Jack and Roxella Van Impe are possibly the funniest comedians on television. How is it possible so completely both to memorize a book like the bible and to fail to understand one single word of it?
