Daniel>> I would agree with the first part but would expect squat from industries unless it benefits them. Besides it's been proven that the state of Mass is the richest per capita and giving the least to donation org, and yet the poorest per capita (Mississipi) is giving the more. Donations can be worthless if not giving with the right motive.

Perhaps Roger it is because the Atheist whiz kids don't care to waste their time discussing fairy tales like the Bible.

I already grew out of fairy tales. Biblical Literalism has already been disproven and the rest of Christianity will eventually be replaced by something else. We are entering into a new age of discovery and Atheism is growing world-wide . But we also have a life to live since there are no magic lands in the sky to make up for lost time.
Silly Christian, myths are for kids!

This is already cross-posted in BC&A.
Just a note: The lack of response to a post is considered evidence of the members' lack of interest.

Mangwa A = witty and telling
Daniel A = insightful
Sephi C = unsupported assertion
Doug I D = copy cat & inaccurate
S Dad B = censorious

Doug I knows I am not a literalist but likes to promote untruths about me

Single Dad ... why do people lack interest in one of the greatest events in history?

What? On this fundie board!!! All I see is someone posting someone else's thread. A symptom of fundies is a tendency to not think for themselves. If someone writes an opposing point of view it is ignored, i.e., fundies pat each others rump instead of scratching their head and trying a logical approach. Folks, Mary was not a cherry and Jesus was human. When you die, you are dead. Get a life and get a job!

thanks, offa

P.S. It won't be long and Spring will be here with warmth and moisture and things growing. And, best of all, lot's of daylight!!!

Probably because they do not consider any event in the Bible to be one of the greatest events in history.

Hello CND

It is impossible not to consider biblical events as historically important.

You might as well dismiss ancient Greek philosophy or all of Roman civisilisation.

Biblical events have transformed the world in the last 2000 years.

You can't ignore them and you can't ignore studying the mind of Christ in Mark 13 and 14, unless your choice is ignorance.

What "world?" Christianity was introduced to India in the first century AD. Zero impact. Zilch. Nada. Outside of Europe, Christianity transformed nothing until the Europeans carried it somewhere after 1500. And even then, it failed again in India (reintroducted in ~1500) and China, where it had been introduced as early as the 7th century by Nestorian monks, to say nothing of the New World, which went happily on until the Europeans arrived in 1492 to plunder and murder in its name. So unless you want to say the "world" is Europe, you don't have a case.

turtonm, with your doctorate and extensive travels, you should know that Christianity has had more than "Zero impact" on India.

There are Christians in India and Indian Christians here in America that I personally know. These Indian Americans often travel back to their country on missionary trips and are greatly concerned about their relatives and countrymen.

I believe the biggest hindrance to the spread of Christianity in India (not to mention China) has been the fact that some of these missionaries are being killed (and/or imprisoned in China) for their beliefs!

By the way, on your travels to India, did you seek out any Indian Christians? Or did you hang out only with Hindus?

First you say one of the greatest events in history and now you say historically important, which one is it? I do not consider any event in the Bible to be among the greatest events in history (I am talking about the verified events). As for them being historically important, any event regardless of being Biblical or not are historically important in some way. There is nothing special about the Bible.

Why?

The same applies to non-Biblical events, what is your point?

Yes I can ignore them because they are not of importance to me at all (except maybe for entertainment). I personally do not care what Jesus is alleged to have said or thought. Seeing as how Mark was composed at least 30 years after the death of Jesus I do not think that reading Mark would give much insight into the mind or sayings of Jesus.

According to Encyclopaedia Britannica 2001, approximately 80% of Indians are Hindus. Another 11% are Muslims. About 8% practice old and varied forms of animism. The other 1% are Christians, Jews, etc. If the total number of Christians in India is less than one percent of the population, then Christianity has had very slightly more than zero impact on India.

According to the writer of the fourth Gospel, Jesus said, "I have overcome the world." (16:33) His estimation of himself and his accomplishments seem a bit exaggerated.
