offa; I cut this from www.perseus.tufts.edu/cgi-bin/ptext?doc=Perseus%3Atext%3A1999.01.0146&layout=&lo c=1.39
and the italics and boldface are mine. 3)[39]Euphrates also, as well as Tigris, goes down into the Red Sea. 4 Now the name Euphrates, or Phrath, denotes either a dispersion, or a flower: by Tigris, or Diglath, is signified what is swift, with narrowness; and Geon runs through Egypt, and denotes what arises from the east, which the Greeks call Nile. offa; What I want to know is this. What if Josephus is talking about two different Egypt's? On paper he is telling the truth. Josephus is also teaching how to stretch the truth, that is, if there are two Egypt's. In other words, if we know he is using Hebrew names for the four rivers, why does he tell us that the Greeks call the river running through Egypt the Nile? That is unnecessary information unless he is trying to mislead us! Myself, I know there are multiple Egypt's, Galilee's, and Tyre's. Josephus tells us so. I want to give a few examples of unnecessary information added to delude the reader. I hope you enjoy my reason or my misconception. Replies are welcome and you need not be polite, I want information. Also, I am experimenting with this format (I hate editing). thanks, offa |

offa; Barbara Thiering writes "(a plural stands for a single
person representing a group)", see page 379, Jesus and the Riddle of the Dead Sea Scrolls. JUB 04:22 And bore witness to the Watchers, the ones who sinned with the daughters of men because they began to mingle themselves with the daughters of men, so that they might be polluted. And Enoch bore witness against all of them. Why couldn't the Watchers be one person? Who would this one person be? Here is some info I got using www.perseus.tufts.edu/cgi-bin/ptext?doc=Perseus%3Atext%3A1999.01.0146&layout=&lo c=1.61 (2) [61] He augmented his household substance with much wealth, by rapine and violence; he excited his acquaintance to procure pleasures and spoils by robbery, and became a great leader of men into wicked courses. What I am thinking is that Cain (the above verse is about him) murdered Enoch (Abel) and took his wife. I feel that the stories in Genesis are stories on top of stories about the same people and that even Noah would qualify as Cain. I am in agreement with The Bible Unearthed as far as making the Jews of Antiquity reaching far less than 1,000 b.c.e. as far as a nation is concerned. Here is what Eisenman writes on page xxxv of James the Brother of Jesus, singulars are inexplicably changed to plurals. So, read your own Scripture and realize that you are subject to being deluded if you read ideally. thanks, Offa |

8:36 PM 8/30/01Offa; Here is a little gem you can find at
www.perseus.tufts.edu/cgi-bin/ptext?doc=Perseus%3Atext%3A1999.01.0146&layout=&lo c=1.329 (20)[329] And when he had put his company in this order, he sent some of them to carry presents to his brother. The presents were made up of cattle, and a great number of four- footed beasts, of many kinds, such as would be very acceptable to those that received them, on account of their rarity. Is Josephus telling us that cattle are not four-footed? This is the delusion principle I am talking about and Josephus is the teacher. What do you want him to do? hold your hand? He has sworn to tell the TRUTH. Does it make you wonder what the TRUTH consists of? Is Jacob "Cain" and is Esau "Abel"? Of course there will be another confrontation where Jacob slays Esau, but, is it the same story retold? thanks, offa |
