Hi Boro nut, can you be more specific about what is being misquoted. I have problems trying to understand your post.
I am not trying to nitpick but rather trying to decide whether there is enough evidence for the resurrection to give up my Jewish beliefs. After all, as in Pascal's Wagers, I have a lot to lose if Christ is not God i.e My descendants would be punished to the third and fourth generation. By the way,I am not Jewish, just playing the devil's advocate. |

I find your comment on misquotation of Galilee interesting. In both Mark and Matthew, the message from the angel was for to disciples to go to Galilee. Are you trying to tell me that the angel asked the woman to tell the disciples to go to a kitchen? I don't think that is possible. In Matthew it is stated clearly that disciples went to a mountain in Galilee. So it clearly meant the place Galilee not a kithcen.
Devil's advocate means I pretend to be is position that I really do not believe in for the sake of arguing. Tjun Kiat |

Just to clarify, I am Chinese. I am surprised that my name sounds Yiddish. Some people have told me that it an is Indonesian name, but Yiddish, it is the first for me.

Don't' listen to PITW Keo, he has no credentials which qualify him to speak in this matter. I haven't spent most of my working life and a large part of my spare time researching Hebrew scripture for the past 20 years just to be rubbished by some badly informed jumped up self important atheist, I will admit. But the point I am making still holds.
I'm sure you are as familiar with the usual gamut of dead languages as I, so If you care to compare the original written Hebrew word for Galilee, and pronounce it in the Aramaic accent fashionable at the time, it actually sounds nothing like Galilee as we know it phonetically today, more like someone with Bells Palsy trying to cough up phlegm. If you know any Welsh people you will understand my meaning. Similarly, the corresponding word for galley (or kitchen) is very reminiscent of having a pubic hair stuck to one's tonsil. It is clear how the misquotation could have arisen. Also, in ancient times the vocabulary was extremely limited compared to nowadays, and one word often served many purposes or had multiple meanings. For instance, cleanliness was next to godliness in most dictionaries, and the Assyrisans had no word for microprocessor. Prophets often said they had spoken to God when what they meant was they had made it up, but they just couldn't verbalise it the same way we can. Also, there is no way to distinguish one written Hebrew word from another, as they all look like an outline scheme for Stonehenge. Boro Nut |

Good heavens! I have been smitten by Boro's crushing logic and rapier wit. Let me ride my fiery chariot right out of this thread. Good luck, Tjun.
