Post Genesis and the Vegetarian T-Rex

Genesis 1:29-30
And God said, "Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit; you shall have them for food. And to every beast of the earth, and to every bird of the air, and to everything that creeps on the earth, everything that has the breath of life, I have given every green plant for food." And it was so.

Genesis 9:2-4
The fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth, and upon every bird of the air, upon everything that creeps on the ground and all the fish of the sea; into your hand they are delivered. Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you; and as I gave you the green plants, I give you everything. Only you shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood

Sorry about the scripture, but I wanted to go ahead and cite this for the convenience of anyone that doubts that this scripture states that prior to the flood, no animal or man ever ate meat.

T-rex and Raptors etc. etc. all developed needle sharp fangs that were serated and claws that were razor sharp so as to help them eat grass and ferns and whatnot.

Is this what fundies really believe?

What do theologins believe about this stuff?

I'm sure this will be entertaining to
hear.

Oh, and about the fear thing in Genesis 9:2. I would like to see xian make a pack of lions scared. They sure couldn't do it in the roman colliseum.

I think it goes without saying that the authors of the bible were well aware of the existance of predatory animals. Who knows why they didn't mention it, but it doesn't seem significant. As for animals being afraid of humams, most of them are but their are a few exceptions. Great white sharks for one. I'm not sure how compelling this is though, you can't really expect them to say "animals will fear man except for so on and so forth."

oops misread that somewhat. Does it actually say somewhere in the bible that animals began to eat meat only after flood? If not I stand by my earlier post, if so then well if someone believes the flood actually happend they might as well believe whatever the hell they want on top of that because they have long since thrown logic out the window.

Sure it dies quad, Look at those scriptures I posted. Don't you get that out of them. The first one was God to Adam, the second was God to Noah after the flood. Do you see it that way?

The first passage doesn't say either way if animals can eat each other or not. The second gives humans the ability to eat cooked meat but again says nothing about animals. You could certainly interpret them to mean that animals couldn't eat each other before the flood.

Actually, there had been a widespread belief that before Adam and Eve ate that infamous fruit, all animals were vegetarian. And that they started eating meat after A and E ate that infamous fruit.

Which does not explain the numerous adaptations to hunting of prey and meat eating, including behavioral adaptations such as the way that cats play with balls of string.

There was one early-19th-cy. biologist, Hugh Miller, who was very perplexed by the discovery of animals with sharp teeth; he eventually decided that they had been possessed by demons, as the Gadarene Swine had been.

Unfortunately, most present-day creationists don't seem to have that kind of intellectual honesty.

come on quadwhore, look at this sentense, it is plain english. Notice the words "beast", "bird", etc.. Then "Green Plant for food". I mean how much more clear can it be.

"She then bore his brother Abel. Abel became a keeper of sheep" - Genesis 4:2

So what exactly was Abel keeping sheep for? Pets? This verse clearly implies that they were eating meat, well before god officially gave them that right. furthermore i don't think there is a specific point where god gives animals the right to eat each other. The fact that he gave them plants for food doesnt mean that they couldn't eat animals on top of that, because god never specifically states that they can not. What this all boils down too is we really can't say when animals began to eat meat or if there was even a time when they weren't permitted to do so. In my opinion the reason the bible isn't clear on this issue is because the ancient authors simply didn't consider it an important one.

quadwhore, are you arguing simply for the sake of arguing. I can't see how this could be any clearer.

In the first passage, god explicitly says he gave us plants. If you take that as meaning that we can eat vegetables-plus whatever else fancies us, Im sorry, but that is just not the case because later on he gives us permission to eat everything else. He used the exact same context in reference to animals. It is plain english.
