So why then, do you post on a subject that you haven't even read? I must say, you are the first person I have met to defend the Bible and yet refer to the authors as "mythmakers". Saying that I am a confused reader for not accepting your interpretation is rather juvenile. Quite frankly, I don't feel that your explanations make much sense.

That being said, if you can't answer my question in relation to the way I asked it, step aside as I am not interested in your "explanations" that do nothing but avoid my question.

That is because myth is real and therefore true. I post my perspective that you might realize that it is wrong to look for archological evidence because soon we will believe the literal interpretation and might even start bombing the rest of the world while laughing at stupidity of the Cargo Cults.

An issue from the Noah's ark story that I have never seen addressed is about rainbows. God sent a rainbow after the flood to assure Noah he would never do it again (was he regetting it). To me, this says that before the flood there were no rainbows!

How could this be? Did the refractive index of water change perhaps?

He would never do it again to Noah. This means that you can only go to heaven once.

With a nerf gun, yes?

(Just as a reminder, irony isn't always perfectly transmitted over a text-only channel. Please be careful with these kinds of remarks.)

I love how the nice Mr. God promises to never flood the world again, but goes on to promise that he'll use FIRE next time. Gee, thanks God!

Amos:

Let me repost your last post to me, as this is how it sould read:

[OPINION]

[/OPINION]

So again, no facts.

To all others:
Oh well, I tried to get an answer, but it just seems that their isn't one. But hey, why should I expect any different since I have been asking/debating this question to many religious individuals for many years, and as described by this posting, the attempted answers only get stranger and stranger. (Yes Amos, that is my opinion, but since I recieved no factual responses, I feel I am entitled.)

I have a crazy notion. It's a MYTH. Every early society from antiquity has a flood myth. Society rose up in an area where flooding was regular and devastating. If you think the indus river valley is the whole world (which early peoples undoubtedly did) a big local flood is equivalent to a global one. Before we start discussing how such a thing as the noachian deluge occured and what god's motivation was for it, we should first etablish that it actually happened. Otherwise we're just arguing about how many angels can dance on the head of a pin.
