Egyptians also practiced circumcision - we have evidence from cave paintings and stelae going back to the 6th dynasty (ca. 2500 BCE). Also aboriginal Australians practiced circumcision since ancient times, according to anthropologists.

(It looks like that Arabs inherited the practice of female circumcision from the Egyptian since there in no Islamic evidence (from the Koran or any authentic hadeeth) that support this kind of practice) If Egypt had practice circumcision for there female only, then Israeli and Ishmaeli might be the only people in the meddle EST who practiced circumcision for there male children. No, I meant male circumcision. The Egyptians practiced male circumcision in the mid-third millenium BCE.

It is relevant that Dr. Younis Shaikh (see this thread has been sentenced to death for blasphemy in Pakistan.
His alleged blasphemy: a student asked him questions about Mohammed's circumcision and other ritual purity or cleanliness practices (an article I read alluded to clipping pubic hair and hair under the arms.) Dr. Shaikh opined (allegedly) that Mohammed had not been circumcized, because this was not a practice of the desert Arabs. This was deemed "insulting to Islam," which requires the death penalty. (I am basing this on an article I read earlier - sorry I don't have a URL that goes into the details of Dr. Shaikh's alleged blasphemy.) So there is some support for the idea that the desert Arabs did not practice circumcision, but you might risk your life to say so in an Islamic theocracy. |

I don’t have that much information in the history of circumcised practice in the ancient time
But I (recently) found out that ancient Greek recorded that the caananest(Palestinians) use to practice circumcised for there male children . So it looks like that circumcised was commonly practiced in the Middle East, and not only between Jews and Arabs, but also other nations) the Arabs pagans before and during the time of Prophet Muhammad use to practice circumcised. What I was wondering about is where did the Arabs got this practice form? Maybe they got it from the Egyptian. Or it might be a religious ritual from Abraham to his descendent after him (the Israelis and the Ishmaelis). Quote:

I get my news from standard sources, like Newsweek: Younus, a respected professor, denied the blasphemy charge at his trial, saying his remarks were twisted. “My students asked me about the shaving of pubic and armpit hair, and I, in describing the glory of Allah’s revelations, said that before the arrival of Islam, the Arabs did not have these practices—and truly they did not,” he said in a court statement. But the mullahs maintain that the professor’s remarks defile the prophet’s image and thus the law applies to him. or the New York Times: The students said he had told them that the Prophet had not become a Muslim until age 40 and that before then, he had not followed Muslim practices concerning circumcision or removing his underarm hair. The Movement for the Finality of the Prophet, well known for pursuing blasphemers, filed a criminal complaint and sent a mob to the college and the local police station, threatening to set them on fire. Dr. Shaikh said in interview earlier this year at the Adiala jail in Rawalpindi that he had addressed questions in his classroom about whether Muhammad had been circumcised before receiving God's revelations at 40, and only remembers saying the Prophet's tribe did not follow that practice. |
