Toto:
Do you have any evidence that Campbell did believe that Jesus was historical? SWL: No, nor did I claim that he did. Nor do I have any evidence that Bob Sagat or Kevin Bacon believe in an historical Jesus. I simply asked for support of a positive truth-claim. I wasn't offering to shoulder the burden of proof in negating it. Toto: I can't find that he took a firm position on the matter, but it seems like the mythicist position would be compatible with everything that he has written. SWL: And as Layman said, so would a belief in Jesus' actual existence. After all, Bultmann, who considered the Gospels largely mythological, thought it was foolish to believe that Jesus was not an actual historical person. SecWebLurker |
