Question Signature of God

Did anyone happen to catch TBN last night? (yeah, I need a hobby!)
They had a guy on their by the name of Grant Jeffery and he was pushing his book
(and tapes) called the "Signature of God."

According to Grant, he has scientific proof that the Bible is real and supposedly has
Archeologists, historians, etc., that back his claim.

Trouble is he would not go into to much depth so this leads me to believe that this is
the "hook" to get people to buy the book.

He also bases much of his theory on the nefarious Bible Codes. I have not delved too
deep into them but I have heard that people have used the same bible code method
on a phone book with similar results.

At one point I distinctly remember him saying that "the Bible is true because it says it's
true." (he then cites a bible verse to back this) Anyhow, if his book is based on that
kind of logic it should be a hoot to read!

He was also very critical of the recent Time Magazine article that questions the Bible.
(btw I just read some reviews on Amazon.com which speak for themselves--this guy is a ding-dong!)

Anyhow, was curious if anyone has read the book or if Mr. Jeffery has reared his
head before.

Thomas,

The guy is sort of the Oliver Stone of fundies. He's big into conspiracy theories and stuff like that. Back in 1999, he was ranting about the impending doom that the Y2K problem was going cause. Funny how I haven't heard him say much about that issue in the last year or so. A huge segment of the fundie population looks to the guy as some sort of a scholar. I'm sure that the Christians who are true scholars look at Grant Jeffrey as a bit of lunatic.

Peace,

Polycarp
