1) Did the question of fundamentalist preachers even come up on this thread? (Remember how I have asked you to try and stay on topic before lpetrich?) 2) How do you know what I think about TV evangelists if you don't ask me? 3) Are you admitting (by means of your analogy) here that ABC presented a biased program? If not, what was the point of your post? Nomad |

My reason for that TV-evangelist comment is that if one wants a totally uncritical view of Jesus Christ, such a view should be easy to find in a TV-evangelist show.

A televised evangelism program makes no bones about being objective, so at least it is being honest in its presentation. Personally, when I am reading or viewing something with an agenda behind it, I prefer to know what that agenda is. With everything out in the open, we can then evaluate its content and claims accordingly. Nomad |

Just out of curiosity, did the show state things that were incorrect, or did it leave important information out? (I didn't see it)

This makes me wonder what Nomad and Bede and Layman would have preferred -- that Crossan and others assert that their methodology is like that of "creation science" "research institutes" whose members must assert that they believe in the literal truth of the Bible?

Moreover, I am not asking that ABC put Josh McDowell or Lee Strobel on, they are not New Testament scholars. But how could they ignore E.P. Sanders and John P. Meier? Or Graham Stanton and Ben Witherington? Why four scholars from the same institute, the Jesus Seminar, and ignore leaders in the field like Sanders and Meier? None of the above beleive in inerrancy or are fundamentalists. |
