Post Lack of biblical fossils - well what about this?

...that the actual tomb of christ is actually located in the church of the holy seplechre? An professor from none other than Oxford claims this! The specifics are to be aired on PBS (normally accused of being too liberal). Hmm...should we nonbelievers should start worrying?

While I'll probably watch it, it is after all of some significance archeologically, I have my doubts that anyone can prove that it is the actual tomb of jesus.

I can't even imagine what physical evidence would be required to confirm that it is his tomb. Other than that, the only evidence is anecdotal and nearly 2000 years old. Even the first church was built there some 300 years after his alleged death. How sure could they be that it was really his tomb after 300 years?

They argue that the tomb of christ could have been known possibly by some christian graffiti indicating that it was the tomb.

This has been done before, but all they actually came up with were the different types of tombs and there were a few different configurations. All they did was to confirm that yes there were tombs configured as the tomb Jesus that suppposedly interred the body of Jesus.
They never specifically said " this is the tomb of Jesus" only that this tomb was like the one that held the body of Christ.

Why would that be proof? It would just be another unverified claim by an anonymous source.

Yes. It says 'Jesus Woz Ere' thereby proving conclusively that is was indeed the tomb of Jesus, and that he must have been resurected to have written it.

No no no, they're right! They know it's
authentic because it says:

"Romani ite domum!"

Did George Washington really sleep in every place which now says "Washington slept here"?

I saw that show as well and what bothered me was that they didn't say Christian Grafitti from when? The second cent? the first? the third? Does Paul or Peter or any of the non Gospel New Testament writers mention anything about Jesus tomb or where it was? Did any of them ever speak of doing a 'pillgrimage' to the site of Jesus birth, death or anything? This would be important if they did and it was the same spot, but I don't think that's the case.
