Why does anyone think that SWL was banned? We only have Mars saying that he was.

I think this is evidence of instant myth creation.

That is not all we have. We also have SWL's absence.

Cool

Koy wins by sheer force of numbers,
but imo Cygnus takes the prize for best of show.

Question

A perverse thought has entered my fertile imagination. This is all a plot. Mars is really SWL, claiming that SWL has been "crucified". In 3 days, SWL will rise!

Nah, that would be too sick.

People come and go all the time. Absence of posts is not evidence of a ban.

Bans are the province of the administrators, not the moderators. The criteria for banning is very stringent; AFAIK you have to try hard to be banned from IIDB.

It's amusing that because it fits their prejudices, a number of theists have automatically assumed the claim is true and any of their business.

I don't know if it's a good thing or a bad thing that I didn't make that list...

SWL has been an active poster on this board for some time now.

Someone who asserts that they are a friend of SWL's asked why he has been banned.

SWL has not been spoken up about this and has not been heard from since the "rumor" started.

None of these alone, perhaps, would establish that he has been banned. But, since you apparently have the ability to verify whether or not he has been banned, I think it is worth checking out.

SWL emailed me and said he was banned. Unless he was lying, I can only assume he is.

Haha that's exactly what I was thinking. Well, they'll believe all manner of ridiculous nonsense won't they. I remain appropriately skeptical.

Yeah, wouldn't want to act on any information. I mean, what if the American public had taken those rumours of attrocities in Nazi Germany seriously. Thank God they remained "appropriately skeptical."
