I agree Amos, I think you and all other xians should nail yourselves to a cross and follow Jesus to the other side. What choice do you have as christianos? According to the Bible, you are fucked if you don't, hanging around this forum (or the world) could make you slip in your faith and you would go to hell, but if you go ahead and kill youself like jesus, you know that tonight you will go to the big H. It is the safest, surest way to get in the Door. I use to be a xian then listen to enough argument and general life xperiance and BAM, I was an Athiest. Is that what you want to happen to you?

Do you really believe a God would push such a system on the world? If you are a xian, you do.

As I see it all Christians are in heaven and those that are not in heaven are not Christians. So there is no difference between you now and then except now you say "no" to that which before you said "yes." So your belief does not matter much at all. I never told you I was or was not a Christian nor will I ever tell you that I am because I would never want to fit into your Christian mold.

If Jesus the Jew survived the crucifixion so can we as Catholics who are Jews by adoption. This same cannot be said for protestants and maybe that is why you once were a Christian.

Amos -

Catholics are Jews by adoption?? What an insult to Judaism. Can a child adopt a parent? Certainly not. IF you adopted the biblical ideals of Jews, you would live by the 613 mitzvahs and convert to Judaism. If you had adopted Judaism you could not believe that Jesus is the Moshiach. Jesus was indeed a Jew. He never "coined" Catholicism. He never added to nor dimished the Torah. He may have saught to clarify error, but HE did not make a new religion and he never preached to the goyyim (gentile). So until Catholics/Christians adopt the ways of the Jew (not just a couple that suit their needs) you can only follow the Seven Laws of Noah and become a righteous gentile, all other forms of worship, as defined by Judaism are idolatry!
Catholicism and it's Protestant off shoots are mere bastardizations of the original Judaic faith.

Hi Brighid, yes we are the grafted branches and have adopted the Laws of Moses to be heart of our religion and Gen. its origen. About the rest I do not really know nor do I care or need to know. Catholicism is a new religion built upon Christ to which we have apostolic succession. It is in this freedom that we are "infallible" and do not need to brown nose Jews into heaven as our fallen brethren feel obliged to do. Our mandate here on earth is to be set free from the bondage of these Laws and find our freedom in Christ to seek favor with God.

If from your perspective we are bastardized Jews ask yourself why the pupil here is far greated than its master. With all respect to Judaism have you ever wondered why this is so? You are correct to say that our protestant off shoots are bastardized idolizers.

Amos

I think this is a really dumb question asked by a lazy airhead farting while loungeing in an unhealthily constructed chair - he has a beer can in one hand and is feeling down.
Why do you answer such dumb questions - why not tell him to go and ask whoever told him that then he can come for a second opinion?
He should read the damn (dare I say it?) bible.
Damn!

What I mean to say(in my previous post) is that You are no longer a child.
So dont tell us what you were told as a child. This is not a site for discussing our childhood "myths"

First of all, bitch, ask a Christian (young and old) why we should follow Jesus, most of them will say something to the extent "He is the son of God (or God for that matter, depending on who you ask) and he died for our sins." My question pretains more to how xians beieve this idea that Jesus died for our sins.
I am not a lazy airhead farting and drinking beer and lounging in a chair. I'm a very intelligent 18 year old, who is going to college soon, and I only drink on occasion, maybe once or twice every six months. And don't assume that I know nothing about the bible (I've read a lot of it). I've been going to a Catholic School for 4 years now, in which I have to take *gasp* a religion class, in which we are constantly fed this "Jesus died for our sins" crap.

Bitch - Jeesus -he called me a bitch. can you beleive that?
You have read a lot of the Bible? Why not tell us what you think about what you have read in your crappy 18 years? Why do you want us to think for you? What are you doing in a religion class - getting indoctrinated?
Why dont you go ahead and get that basic education and then come argue with adults?
People think and ask intelligent questions - but when you say "..when I was a child..." - who cares what you were told when you were a child - You are not a child anymore. What we'd like to know is, what do you think NOW instead of demonstrating that you have an ability to ask questions 3-year olds ask Punk!
Sorry - Bitch!
Go and relive your childhood at children.com!
Bitch!(I am beginning to like this!)
Bitch!

Are you calling me a punk?! If so I thank you for the compliment. And just because I don't wanna start a flame war, I'm not gonna reply to you anymore, because I know you're acting like an ass just for the fun of it.

Pretty bizarre response, Jaliet, to a perfectly legitimate question. It IS a strange concept that Christians and potential Christians are asked to believe. Why WOULD someone's tortured death result in others' salvation from death? I mean, if they could be saved by an agent independent from the crucifixion, why would the crucifixion be needed? And how would BELIEF that the person who was crucified died to save other people CAUSE the salvation to occur?

I used to know but can't remember anymore; something about God's willingness to sacrifice even his beloved son to a painful days-long agonizing death all to SHOW the ungrateful recipients of this bountiful mercy how loving he is. How DARE you, trunks2K, have a question about such a crystal clear concept as that! What an outrage that you asked such a thing! Jeez.
